JAMES JOHNSON is a veteran talk radio host with a background in pastoral ministry and conservative politics. In the last three decades he has consulted or worked on over 40 political campaigns, including those of President Donald J. Trump, former Texas Governor Rick Perry, and former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum.
Commended by the White House political director for establishing the gold standard for coalitions building, James was appointed by President Trump on Inauguration Day 2017 to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, where he served as Advisor to the Office of Public Affairs, Senior Advisor to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and Director of the Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.
In that presidential appointment, James directed all community outreach for the third-largest department of the U.S. Government, representing DHS at key meetings in the U.S. Senate, strengthening faith-based collaboration between 13 Cabinet departments, and working with law enforcement and security agencies to advise churches and religious institutions on establishing safety and security protocols.
During his tenure, James strategically supported President Trump’s "Make America Great Again" agenda, building the U.S. Southern Border Wall, hiring 15,000 new border and immigration agents, reducing human trafficking and drug smuggling, strengthening the government’s relationship with faith-based charities, and ending the anti-religious policies that were preventing churches from receiving disaster relief funds. James was especially commended for his on-the-ground leadership in Texas and Florida following three category-five hurricanes and the bloodiest church shooting in American history.
James holds a B.A. in Theology from Bethany Global University and an M.A. in Public Policy with a specialization in Political Communication from Regent University. An 8-time recipient of the Best Speaker Award in Toastmasters International, he has taught nine subjects at two midwestern colleges, including Economics, American Government, American History, Western Civilization, Ethics, and Logic. James and his wife Janis have been married for 36 years and have six children and 14 grandchildren. Three of their children are serving in the U.S. military, and a fourth is preparing to serve after he graduates from college.
